The Holy Spirit calls us together as the people of God.
INTRODUCTION
How can the Word spread to the ends of the earth if its hearers can't even understand the language? The Holy Spirit is about to take care of that.

CONFESSION
Let us confess our sin in the presence of God and of one another.
Silence is kept for reflection.
Most merciful God, we confess that we are captive to sin and cannot free ourselves. We have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways, to the glory of your holy name. Amen.

Offering Holy Spirit by Frans
An offering from the flock or the field was a vital part of thankful worship in the Old Testament, acknowledging that all good things come from God. In the Early Church, members would bring forward gifts of bread and wine during an "Offertory Procession." The pastor would take enough for the Lord's Supper and set aside the rest to support himself and care for the congregation's poor. Today, we tend to provide money in the offering plate for these needs. Our offerings join our prayer and praise as a response to hearing the Word. Thanksgiving for the Word
Let us pray.

By your Word you called your people Israel to tell of your wonderful gifts: freedom from captivity, water on the desert journey, a pathway home from exile, wisdom for life with you. For your Word of life, O God,

Through Jesus, your Word made flesh, you speak to us and call us to witness: forgiveness through the cross, life to those entombed by death, the way of your self-giving love. For your Word of life, O God,

Send your Spirit of truth, O God; rekindle your gifts within us: renew our faith, increase our hope, and deepen our love, for the sake of a world in need. BLESSING OF THE FATHEr'S
God of all creation, pour out your blessing on all fathers and those who provide fatherly care.
You have made them in your image and given them children to love and care for in your name.
Bless them with a heart like your heart: discerning and thoughtful, bold and decisive, compassionate and loving. As they model for their children the life that is lived by faith and not by sight, grant them courage under pressure and confidence in your power. When troubles threaten to overwhelm them, grant them your coping calm. When doubts give rise to anxiety, shore up their trust in your promises. When joy fills their days, grant them a keen gratitude for your abundant supply of grace. Season them with a lively sense of humor, Lord, for it will make life richer for us all. In all circumstances preserve them as your own. We ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.
